THE BEAUTIFUL LETTERS OF DAVID JONES  (Two to three days)

David Jones was an artist who created paintings of letters in a unique way. Sensitive to

the way forms knit together and how they read as pattern on a page, Jones looked to

naïve historic examples of lettering for inspiration. We will be learning various

techniques for drawing our letters with a pen, pencil and painted with a brush.

We shall also experiment with pastels and Jones’ unique method of painting the

surface of the paper he used and consider using linen canvas as a support for design.
